What is the sizing issue on Amazon?

Recently Amazon’s sizing issue became much more familiar. Amazon’s sizing issue means, incorrect size names, the sizing order is not displayed sequentially, and the size names appear multiple times. The sizing issues are described below.

Naturally your product size name may appear incorrectly. There are many times you use the wrong size name when listing products. Sometimes it happens when you/multi sellers listed products at different times with different size names. There are many types of size names, alphabetic, alphanumerical, numeric, etc. 

Here 4x-Large, 5X-Large, and 6X-Large are incorrect size names. Listing the wrong size name here causes the wrong size name to appear. When listing products, you should keep in mind the importance of size names.

The incorrect sizing order means sizing drop-downs do not appear to be in the correct order. The sizing order always depends on the variation theme. There are many types of variation themes for example, size, color, sizecolor, colorsize, SizeName-ColorName, ColorName-SizeName, etc. When you list products, you must keep in mind the variation theme.

Here the sizing drop-down is showing with the wrong order. The sizing order need to show match below:

Small

Medium

Large

X-Large

XX-Large

But you can see the fast size name is large and the size name small is showing at 4th. Now it is point, why the size name large shows at fast and size name small is showing at 4th position? For choosing the wrong variation theme the sizing drop-down showing at the wrong order. 

In this listing, the variation theme “colorsize”. The variation theme “colorsize” means at first, the color names are sorting then the size names.

In the above picture, the order of the names is arranged first then the size names. The color name Acu Digital Camo displays fast because “a” is the first letter. Since the color Acu Digital Camo has one size “Large” so it appears first.  

In the above picture, in the color drop-down black is showing at 2nd position. The color black has 3 sizes medium, Large, and X-large. Here the size medium needs to display first in sizing drop-down. But when color name Acu Digital Camo sort at first that’s why the size name Large set as first size name in sizing drop-down. 

In the same way color name Multicam sort as position 3rd in color drop-down option. Please see the above picture, for color Multicam has 5 sizes Small, Medium, Large, X-Large, and XX-Large. In the meantime size names Large,  Medium, and X-Large sorted, that’s why the sizes Small and XX-Large sorted after size names Large, Medium, and X-Large. 

At this stage you can understand the importance of the variation theme in sizing drop-down.

In some cases it is seen that same size names appear multiple times. It happens, if multiple sellers listed a product multiple times, use different variation themes, and use different size names for the same size of different color for a product. 

Here, in the sizing drop-down you can see size name 3X-Large and XXX-Large both are showing together. Here the same size names appear multiple times. 

In amazon, you may face the above mentioned sizing problems. Now we are discussing here, how to solve the sizing problems on Amazon.

How to solve the sizing problems on Amazon

To avoid sizing problems on Amazon, you need to be aware of two points. When you are listing a product you need to choose the correct variation theme for that product. In amazon, the sizing order depends on the variation theme. The time of listing a product, you need to be very careful about assigning a correct size name. If you maintain these two things correctly, then you can avoid sizing problems. These two points apply to new product listings.

If there is a size problem with your listed product, how to solve this problem?

Please identify the problem first. If you have listed the product with the wrong size name, please follow the following steps:

Step 1: Please delete the impacted SKU by using the inventory loader file. To download a loader file, at first login into your Amazon seller center account. You can see that on the top left side of the screen Amazon features that you can use. Click on “Add Products via Upload” from the “Inventory” menu. 

Step 2: Now the top of the page, click on “Download an Inventory File”.

Step 3: In this step, you need to select “INVENTORY FILES” from the bottom of the page.

Step 4: Here, click on “Inventory Loader” from the bottom of the page (last one).

Step 5: You can see a new window. Please click on “Inventory Loader template”

The Inventory Loader File has downloaded. Now fill in the following column:

  • SKU: Product sku
  • product-id: ASIN
  • product-id-type: 1
  • add-delete: x

Now, please save as type“(Tab delimited) (*.Text txt)”. After saving the inventory loader file you need to upload it.

Step 6: In this step, you need to upload the inventory loader file which is saved as “(Tab delimited) (*.Text txt)” format. You can see that on the top left side of the screen Amazon features that you can use. Click on “Add Products via Upload” from the “Inventory” menu. 

Step 7: Here, please click on “Check and Upload your Inventory File”.

Now, go to the middle of the page in step 2- Upload File. Please select File type “Inventory Loader File”.

Step 8: In this step, you need to click on “Choose File” to choose the file you want to upload. 

After selecting the file, please click on “Upload” bottom of the page.

After uploading the Inventory Loader File you can collect the Batch ID for your future reference. Within 24 hours the impacted ASIN/SKU will be deleted.

Step 9: After delete the ASIN/SKU you need to upload a feed file to fix your sizing issue. For downloading the feed file click on “Add Product via Upload” from Inventory.

Now, click on “Download an Inventory File”.

Here you need to select Product Classifier from the product classifier table.

After choosing the product classifier click on Advanced. Now click on “Generate Template”.

Step 10: After downloading the feed file you need to fill up all the required fields with correct Information/Date. Now, save the feed file as type“(Tab delimited) (*.Text txt)”. After saving the feed file you need to upload it.

To upload the feed file, please follow the Inventory Loader File upload procedure. Note: Here you select File type “Inventory Files for noon-Media Categories”

After successfully uploading the feed file, please keep the Batch ID for your future reference. So, we have successfully fixed the sizing issues on Amazon.
